That is unusual and it is the main reason to keep this bottle rather than a spot-on. As with any parasiticide, if your animal has an existing condition or is on medication, speak to your vet first.
Dosing is by weight. Minimum 3 ml per kg for short-haired animals and 6 ml per kg for long-haired. On this 100 ml bottle each pump gives 1 ml, so for cats and dogs over 10 kg the guide is 3 pump actions per kg: about 45 pumps for a 15 kg animal, about 90 for a 30 kg animal. Up to twice as many pumps may be needed for long-haired animals or for tick control.
Spray the entire body from about 10 to 20 cm away, working against the lay of the hair so the whole coat is wetted. Ruffle the coat, especially on long-haired animals, so it penetrates down to the skin. Then let it dry naturally. Do not towel dry, because towelling removes the product you just applied.
Around 1 month against ticks, at 3 to 5 weeks, and around 2 months against fleas, at 1 to 3 months. The range depends on the parasite pressure in your pet's actual environment, so a dog walking through long grass daily will be at the shorter end.
