It is a daily skin and coat oil for dogs and cats, built around EPA and DHA, with GLA, Omega 3, 6 and 9, Vitamin E, Zinc, Biotin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Taurine. Fatty acids need volume to reach a useful dose, which is why omega supplements are generally oils rather than tablets. Given on food twice daily, measured with the cap.
Usually not on its own. Plant oils supply omega 3 as alpha-linolenic acid, a precursor the body converts into EPA and DHA using the delta-6 desaturase enzyme. Veterinary research reports this conversion is very low in dogs and close to zero in cats. Omega 6 also competes for the same enzyme, so a diet already high in omega 6 makes it harder still. Fur Radiance supplies EPA and DHA directly.
Most do, straight on food. It coats kibble and mixes into home cooked food easily. It has a mild oil smell and we would rather describe that accurately than claim it has none. What matters more is freshness, which is why Vitamin E is in the formula.

Two spoons a day is really all there is to it. But this is an oil, and oils have a few honest complications.
Puppies and kittens from 8 weeks: 1 to 2 ml twice daily. Cats: 1 to 2.5 ml twice daily. Larger breed pups: 3 to 5 ml twice daily. Adult dogs up to 10 kg: 5 ml twice daily. 10 to 25 kg: 7.5 ml twice daily. Above 25 kg: 10 ml twice daily. Pregnant or lactating dogs: 5 to 10 ml twice daily. Use the measuring cap. Give into the mouth or mix into food.
From 8 weeks. DHA supports brain and retinal development, and puppies and kittens have the highest relative requirement of any life stage. Start at half the recommended dose for the first five days, then move to full.
It can, if you start at the full dose on day one. Any oil introduced suddenly can upset a sensitive stomach, and it is the most common reason people stop in the first week. Give half the dose for five days, then move to full. If it still happens, drop back to half for another week and build up slowly.
It has a mild oil smell, and we would rather describe that accurately than claim it has none. What matters more is freshness. Fresh omega oil smells mild and clean, while oxidised oil smells sharp or bitter. Vitamin E is in the formula to protect against that. If a bottle ever smells sharp or bitter, contact us and we will replace it.
For the omega 3 role, largely yes. Coconut oil is a saturated fat and contains effectively no omega 3, and ghee is not an omega source. Plant based tonics supply omega 3 as alpha-linolenic acid, which has to be converted into EPA and DHA first, and that conversion is very low in dogs and close to zero in cats. Fur Radiance supplies EPA and DHA directly.
Dryness and flaking: 2 to 3 weeks, the fastest moving part. Coat shine and density: around 4 weeks. Shedding settling toward normal: 4 to 6 weeks. Itch and inflammation: 6 to 8 weeks, sometimes longer. That last number is the honest one, and it is why people give up too early. If your pet is itchy, plan for eight weeks.
Yes to Furtick, and to spot-ons, dewormers and multivitamins. This is a nutritional feed supplement, not a pharmaceutical, and it does not interfere with a Fluralaner chewable. Two cautions. If your pet is on blood thinners or has a bleeding disorder, speak to your vet first, as omega 3 can affect platelet function. If your pet has a history of pancreatitis, any added fat needs veterinary sign off.
Fat carries roughly 2.25 times the calories of protein or carbohydrate, so an oil is never calorie free. At label dose the amount is small for most pets. If your pet is overweight or on a weight management plan, take the added calories off the daily food rather than adding on top, and let your vet know you have started it.
Yes, it is designed for continuous daily use. The water soluble parts, B6, Vitamin C, Taurine, Biotin and Inositol, are not stored and need replenishing each day. The fat soluble parts, Vitamins A and E, are at maintenance levels that stay well within safe limits for continuous supplementation.
Recap tightly after every use. Store below 25 degrees C, away from direct sunlight and away from the stove. Oxygen, heat and light are what turn an omega oil rancid, in that order. Do not decant into another bottle. Use within 90 days of opening for best freshness, and not past the printed expiry.
