Ticks on your dog today? Do this
- Remove the ticks you can see. Use tweezers or a tick remover, hold the tick close to the skin and pull it straight out. Don't squeeze or twist it.
- Bathe your dog with Anti-Tick & Flea Pet Shampoo to clear the ticks and fleas you can't see.
- Give a FurTick chew. It keeps protecting your dog for 12 weeks.
- Clean your dog's bed and favourite spots. The brown dog tick, the most common tick in India, lives in cracks, bedding and kennels.
You may still see a few dead ticks on the coat for a day or two. That's normal: ticks die after they bite.
Tick Tablets for Dogs
A tick tablet for dogs is a chew you give with food. It works from the inside: when a tick or flea bites your dog, it dies. Nothing stays on the coat, so baths, swimming and rain don't affect it.
FurTick is Richpet's 12-week chew, made with fluralaner. Give one chew, then the next one on the same date 12 weeks later. That's 4 to 5 chews a year instead of 12 monthly doses. Most tick tablets for dogs last one month; FurTick lasts 12 weeks, and it kills fleas too.
Anti tick tablets for dogs are the best fit if your dog:
- goes to parks, walks on grass or plays with street dogs
- is bathed often, swims or goes out in the rain
- has long or thick fur, where a spot-on is hard to put on
Is it safe? FurTick is for healthy dogs, given at the right size for their weight. If your dog has ever had fits (seizures), is pregnant or is unwell, ask your vet before the first chew.
Which size, and what it costs
The right tablet for dog ticks depends on your dog's weight, so weigh your dog before you buy.
| Your dog's weight | FurTick size | Price | Cost per year (4.3 chews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4.5 to 10 kg | 250 mg | ₹949 | about ₹4,080 |
| Over 10 to 20 kg | 500 mg | ₹1,399 | about ₹6,020 |
| Over 20 to 40 kg | 1000 mg | ₹1,749 | about ₹7,520 |
| Over 40 to 56 kg | 1400 mg | ₹2,099 | about ₹9,030 |

Tick and Flea Prevention for Dogs
Tick prevention for dogs only works if there are no gaps between doses. In most Indian cities, ticks and fleas are around for most of the year, so plan for year-round protection, not just the monsoon.
There are four ways to do tick control for dogs. Choose by how your dog lives:
| Chew (FurTick) | Spot-on | Spray (Fipo-Mec) | Shampoo | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it does | Kills ticks and fleas after they bite | Kills ticks and fleas on the skin and coat | Kills the ticks and fleas it touches | Kills ticks and fleas during the bath |
| How long it lasts | 12 weeks | 1 month (Fipronil Spot-On); up to 4 months for ticks with FurTick Spot-On | Short term | Only during the bath |
| Baths and rain | No effect | Keep your dog dry for 2 days after | Spray again after a bath | Not needed |
| Best for | Dogs that go out every day | Dogs that won't eat tablets | Extra cover before walks | Clearing a bad infestation fast |
You can use these dog tick control products together: a shampoo or spray clears ticks fast, and a chew or spot-on keeps them away.
Every month or every 12 weeks?
A monthly product costs less each time, but you must remember it every 30 days. A 12-week chew costs more each time, but you only need 4 to 5 a year. For a 15 kg dog, that's about ₹6,020 a year with FurTick against about ₹2,988 a year with a monthly spot-on. Both give full flea and tick protection for dogs if you stay on time.
Whatever you choose, set a phone reminder on the day you give any flea and tick prevention for dogs.
Flea Treatment for Dogs
Fleas are easy to miss until the scratching starts. Look for scratching near the tail, small black specks (flea dirt) in the fur, and red bites on the belly.
Flea treatment for dogs has to cover two places: your dog and your home.
- On your dog: FurTick chews and Richpet spot-ons kill fleas as well as ticks. If there are a lot of fleas, bathe your dog with Anti-Tick & Flea Pet Shampoo first.
- In your home: wash your dog's bedding in hot water, and vacuum sofas, rugs and corners every day for two weeks. Most fleas live in the house, not on the dog.
Once the fleas are gone, regular flea prevention for dogs stops them coming back. Have a cat too? Cats need their own products. Never use a dog product on a cat.
Best Tick Treatment for Dogs in India
The best tick treatment for dogs is the one that suits your dog's weight, how often they go out, and how easily you'll remember the next dose. Here's how the main types sold in India compare.
| Type | What it is | Active ingredient | One dose lasts | Doses a year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12-week chew (FurTick) | Chewable tablet | Fluralaner | 12 weeks | 4 to 5 |
| Monthly chew | Chewable tablet | Afoxolaner or sarolaner | 1 month | 12 |
| Monthly chew with dewormer | Chewable tablet that also treats some worms | Sarolaner, moxidectin, pyrantel | 1 month | 12 |
| Monthly spot-on (Richpet Fipronil Spot-On) | Liquid you put on the skin | Fipronil | 1 month | 12 |
Not sure which type your dog uses now? Check the active ingredient on the pack.
Our pick: for most dogs that go outdoors, a 12-week chew. It lasts the longest, and baths and rain don't affect it. For a dog that won't eat tablets, choose a spot-on.
Prefer a Spot-On?
Some dogs simply won't eat a tablet. A spot-on is a small tube of liquid you put on the skin between the shoulder blades. Richpet makes two: FurTick Spot-On for long-lasting protection, and Fipronil Spot-On, a monthly tick solution for dogs in four sizes.
Anti-Tick Sprays and Shampoos
Sprays and shampoos work fast but don't last long, so use them with a chew or spot-on, not instead of one.
Fipo-Mec Fipronil Spray (0.25%) is a quick anti tick treatment for dogs before walks in grassy areas: spray the legs, belly and neck. Keep it away from your dog's eyes and mouth, don't let your dog lick the coat until it's dry, and wash your hands after use. On cats, use it only as the label directs.
Anti-Tick & Flea Pet Shampoo and Fipomed Medicated Shampoo: wet the coat, rub the shampoo in well, leave it on for about 5 minutes (or as the label says), then rinse. They kill ticks and fleas during the bath but don't protect afterwards. For coat, itch and puppy shampoos, see our full dog shampoo range.
Used anti-tick powder before? A spray covers the coat more evenly and doesn't fall off onto your floor, which is why we make a spray.
Tick and Flea Treatment for Puppies
Not every product suits a young dog. Check the minimum age and weight before the first dose:
- FurTick chew: for dogs of at least 4.5 kg
- FurTick Spot-On: for dogs of at least 4.5 kg
- Fipronil Spot-On: from 8 weeks and at least 2 kg; the smallest size is for dogs up to 10 kg
- Anti-Tick & Flea Pet Shampoo: gentle enough for puppies
For flea treatment for puppies that are too young or too small for these, bathe with the shampoo, comb out ticks and fleas, wash the bedding, and ask your vet when to start a chew or spot-on.
Why Buy from Richpet
- Richpet's own brand, sold direct. No middlemen, so no risk of fake or old stock.
- Batch number and expiry on every pack.
Tick Treatment for Dogs: FAQs
Why do I still see ticks after giving FurTick?
Ticks have to bite before the chew can kill them. So for a day or two you may still see ticks on your dog, but they will be dead or dying and will drop off. New ticks die soon after they bite.
What kills ticks and fleas on dogs fastest?
A bath with Anti-Tick & Flea Pet Shampoo, or the Fipo-Mec spray, kills the ticks and fleas it touches straight away. A FurTick chew then keeps working for 12 weeks. If there are a lot of ticks, do both: shampoo first, then the chew.
What if my dog won't eat the chew, or vomits after it?
Offer the chew with a little food. If your dog vomits soon after the chew, ask your vet before giving another one.
Does FurTick protect against tick fever?
Tick fever is spread by tick bites. FurTick kills ticks after they bite. Give every dose on time, check your dog for ticks after walks, and see a vet if your dog has a fever, low energy or stops eating.
Do I still need a dewormer?
Yes. FurTick protects against ticks and fleas, not worms. Keep giving your dog's usual dewormer as your vet advises.
What is the longest-lasting flea and tick treatment for dogs?
A fluralaner chew. One FurTick chew lasts 12 weeks, which is close to 3 months. Most other chews and spot-ons last 1 month.
What is the safest flea and tick treatment for dogs?
The safest one is made for your dog's species, age and weight, and given exactly as the label says. Weigh your dog before you buy, never cut a chew in half or give two, and never use a dog product on a cat. If your dog has had fits, is pregnant or is unwell, ask your vet first.
What's the difference between a tick and a flea on a dog?
Ticks are bigger (from a sesame seed to a small pea once they've fed), have eight legs and stay stuck in one place, often around the ears, neck and toes. Fleas are tiny, jump fast through the fur and leave black specks of flea dirt. Both bite and itch, and ticks can spread tick fever, so protect against both.
How do I know if my dog has ticks?
After every walk, run your hands slowly over your dog, especially the ears, neck, armpits and between the toes. Ticks feel like small, hard bumps and can be brown, grey or bluish. Scratching, head shaking and licking one spot are early signs too.
How do I get rid of ticks on my dog for good?
Pull off the ticks you can see with tweezers, close to the skin. Then start a chew or spot-on, so new ticks die soon after they bite. Clean the cracks, bedding and kennel where ticks hide, and keep your dog protected all year with no gaps between doses.
How do I get rid of fleas on my dog and in my home?
Bathe your dog with Anti-Tick & Flea Pet Shampoo, then start a chew or spot-on. At the same time, wash the bedding in hot water, vacuum every day for two weeks and treat every pet in the house. Flea eggs keep hatching for a while, so don't stop early.
Is there a tick injection for dogs?
You don't need a dog tick injection for everyday protection at home. Chews and spot-ons are the usual choice, and you can give them yourself. Vets do use injections for some problems, so if your dog can't take a chew or spot-on, ask your vet.
What kills keede (insects) on dogs?
Most keede on dogs are ticks or fleas. A FurTick chew kills both, and the Fipo-Mec spray or a spot-on works on the coat. If you see hair loss, wounds or sores, it may be mites or a skin problem, so see a vet.
How soon can my dog sleep on my bed after treatment?
With a FurTick chew, straight away, because nothing stays on the fur. After a spot-on or spray, wait until the coat is fully dry, and wash your hands after touching the treated area.
Can I use a dog tick treatment on my cat?
No. Dog products are made for dogs and can harm cats. Use a product made for cats from our cat flea and tick range.
